Happy Birthday to Hub!!!

Today is an epic day. 31 years ago, Carol managed to give birth to the man baby who became my husband. We celebrated by spending 8 hours in a car driving home from Wyoming and then picking up our dog child Gus from his babysitters. Oh and then dinner and a movie from Blockbuster. I know. too exciting for words.

This time last year Hub brought me home to meet the entire fam for the first time. 1 month later we were engaged and 3 months later I became the Mrs. It's been a tornado of wedded bliss ever since.

Married life is nothing like how they make it look in the movies. But I don't think I'd have it any other way. No one makes me laugh harder, is more patient with my brand of crazy, and shows me more love than my husband. So here's to Hub, my penguin, my lobster, my photogenic husband. Happy Birthday!!!

Ode to Gus

Oh Gus,
how bad you sometimes smell...
Your hair, shed everywhere, has begun to take over my life.
You crazy dog, you love the trash, the dirty laundry too.
The neighbor's yard just three doors down is your choicest place to poo.
At meals you beg like a champ, regardless of what's to eat.
You whine, you cry, you jump up on the couch, it's like you're asking to get beat.
But I love your silly face, the fact you sleep on your back, and how you twitch when you sleep.
I love your soft ears, your cold nose, and your big feet. You make me happy, even when I'm grumpy. I love you so much, we nicknamed you Lumpy.
Augustus, Dear Gus, you are such a good dog. You're now the big star of this awesome blog.
